David creció en Florida, hijo de un pastor. Hoy, David y su esposa Laura están criando a su joven familia en el condado de Pinellas, donde sirvió en el Congreso de 2014 a 2017. En el Congreso, David se centró en ayudar a los veteranos y a las personas mayores, apoyar a las fuerzas del orden, proteger el medio ambiente y devolver recursos a Florida. El trabajo de David para acabar con la corrupción gubernamental apareció en 60 Minutes.
