Principles Over Party.

Join the movement
In short

David Jolly's position is grounded in principles over party affiliation. He supports local control, private sector leadership, individual freedom from government interference in personal decisions, and government action when markets fail. Jolly's approach to Florida's challenges in housing, insurance, health care, education, and affordability focuses on solutions that work regardless of whether they originate from the right or left.

Political parties change. Principles don't have to.

David Jolly spent much of his life as a Republican. He represented Florida in Congress as a Republican. And many of the principles that shaped his view of government then still shape it today.

Government closest to the people knows best.

The private sector should lead wherever it can.

Government should protect individual freedom and stay out of deeply personal decisions.

Public officials should be accountable to the people they serve.

And when markets or institutions fail to meet a challenge, government has a responsibility to help find a solution that works.

David describes himself today as being in a post-ideological place. Florida faces enormous challenges in housing, insurance, health care, education and affordability. His argument is straightforward: those problems require solutions at the same scale.

The question isn't whether an idea came from the right or the left.

The question is whether it works.

The party David joined

Some of these ideas used to be called Republican ideas.

In discussing local control, David has described what attracted him to the Republican Party in the first place.

Less government.

Local control.

Keeping government out of your doctor's office.

Keeping government out of your bedroom.

Keeping government from overruling communities simply because politicians in the state capital don't like the decisions those communities make.

David's political affiliation changed.

Those principles didn't.

The principles in practice

What does that look like today?

The private sector should lead.

The private sector should lead.

Government doesn't have to run everything to make people's lives better. Businesses, entrepreneurs, workers and communities create growth and opportunity. Government should create the conditions for that to happen. But when a market is clearly failing Floridians, the answer cannot simply be to watch it fail. David's housing and insurance proposals include public-private approaches and government intervention where Florida's insurance market is no longer delivering affordable outcomes.

FLORIDA DOESN'T NEED SMALLER POLITICS. WE NEED TO TRUST ONE ANOTHER AGAIN. WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN BETTER.

FLORIDA DOESN'T NEED SMALLER POLITICS. WE NEED TO TRUST ONE ANOTHER AGAIN. WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN BETTER.

Florida's challenges in housing, insurance, health care, education and affordability have moved beyond the traditional left and right argument. The real question is whether government is willing to meet problems at their actual scale.
Where the solution comes from matters less than whether the solution works.

A conservative idea that works? Use it.
A progressive idea that works? Use it.
A private-sector solution? Great.
A public-private partnership? Let's talk.
Government action where the market has failed? Put it on the table.

Florida's problems are too consequential to reject good ideas because somebody on the "other team" thought of them first.
